Aluminium Bronze Alloys, Cupro Nickel Alloys, Aluminium – Tin Alloys, High Lead Bronze Alloys

THE TECHNOLOGY

We use the technologically superior centrifugal casting process. The ADVANTAGES offered by centrifugal casting process are :-

Superior mechanical properties and higher density.
Almost nil rejection due to porosity or blow- holes unlike sand castings.
Lower machining allowance for finishing.
Saving on machining capacity.
Better quality to end users.

COMPARISON OF MICRO - STRUCTURES

Microstructure of sand cast bearing bush of lead  bronze ( LB 1)

(Magnification 100 X)

The microstructure showed particles of ‘Delta’ phase and lead particles in alpha Phase. Grain size is much coarser and showed more pronounced coring. The% of porosity was 5 to 10% and the size was 10 to 40 mm.

Microstructure of centrifugally cast bearing bush of lead bronze ( LB 1) (Magnification 100X)

The microstructure showed particles of ‘Delta’ phase and lead particles in alpha phase.
Pores of size 20 to 40 mm were present in about 3 to 7 % concentration.

Some of the pores were associated with lead particles but were generally randomly distributed. Porosity was probably associated with gas evolution. Coring is absent
